The Community Sponsorship Group in County Cork, Ireland, was officially established on January 31st, 2024, during the first in-person meeting at University College Cork, as part of the EU-Passworld project. During her presentation on the EU-Passworld initiative, Tessa Cornally from Nasc, the Migrant and Refugee Rights Centre, highlighted the crucial role that the Community Sponsorship group plays in supporting the new Education Pathway.
The group, which is now known as “Fáilte Cork: A Higher Education CSG,” is made up of people from a variety of backgrounds, including University College Cork students, staff, teachers, and alumni, as well as members from the larger Cork community such as residents associations and Cork City Partnership. The group’s members have begun the online component of their Community Sponsorship training, which is tailored particularly for Education Pathways.
The group is eager to start its fundraising activities and spread the word about this significant initiative, since it is the first of its kind in Cork. They have several fundraising events coming up, and they are now preparing for their first one.
Stay tuned for their fundraising events.
